    Implementing Financial Instruments (FI) in ESIF bares lots of opportunities – but also challenges. Member states all over Europe use FI to finance revenue-generating projects in their respective countries in order to foster economic and social development. When implementing this relatively new instrument Managing Authorities, implementing bodies, national banks.

    Finland is implementing a new Scheme for Financial Instruments: Social Impact Bonds

    The participation fee is covering accommodation for three nights including breakfast. We will be staying at the 4* Hotel in Helsinki Holiday Inn Helsinki – West Ruoholahti. The lunches during the Study Visit will also be provided. We invite all our participants to one get together dinner. The fee is covering the transportation and during the Study Visit. The language of the Study Visit is English.

      Mika Pyykkö Project Director (Impact Investing), Sitra

      Mika leads Sitra’s development operations of impact investing. Impact investing can be seen as a way of stepping up collaboration between the public and private as well as NGO sector in order to prevent or solve societal and environmental problems.

      City of Espoo`s investment funds (Basic services and land acquisition fund, Basic services development fund, Economy and employment fund, Insurance fund and Investment fund): selection of fund managers and direct investments,

      Borrowing (City`s and subsidiaries), Loan portfolio hedging, Operation`s with NIB and EIB,

      Project financing (PPP structures, leasing etc.), including WestMetro extension and Espoo Hospital

       

      present City of Espoo`s investment portfolio and then shortly also tell about the KotoSIB, the one and only impact investment that we have made.
